Wall Street opens lower as US-China dispute goes on
Stocks on the United States markets went down at the open on Friday as it seems that the escalated political and economic problems between the US and China are only rising. United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated Washington condemns China’s national security law proposal, asserting the implementation of such legislation would be a “death knell for the high degree of autonomy Beijing promised for Hong Kong.”
The Dow sank 0.15% at the open with Cisco Systems falling 0.96%. The Nasdaq started 0.13% lower as NetEase decreased by 8.22%. The S&P 500 kicked off by declining 0.26%. Ross Stores led the losses, declining 2.84%.
The euro lost 0.50% compared to the dollar to sell for $1.08969 at 9:32 am ET.
