African swine fever detected in China’s Yunnan
China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs said on Friday that the new outbreak of African swine fever has been found on a farm in the southwestern province of Yunnan.
The farm, in a county of Yongsheng near Lijiang city, reportedly has 102 pigs and is the first virus-contaminated farm in the province since November last year.
African swine fever is a fatal pig disease that was first reported in China in August 2018 and has spread globally, killing millions of pigs and reducing the size of the herd by more than 40%.
