Abe apologizes to Japan’s parl for funds abuse case
Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe apologized to the country’s parliament and the public for rejecting claims of his team’s abuse of political funds in his previous statements on the matter.
The former head of government stated he was sorry for not acknowledging the scandal earlier but denied his direct involvement in it.
Abe’s remarks come as his former secretary Hiroyuki Haikawa is facing charges of the alleged unreported abuse of funds used to cover the costs of dinner parties for supporters.
