Abe: State of emergency can end in one month
Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on Wednesday that the state of emergency in his country could potentially end in one month if the citizens respect the government’s guidelines regarding the prevention of the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Abe pointed out that the most significant instruction to citizens is to “reduce contact with people by at least 70%, or preferably 80%.” He also noted that he was informed that a large number of domestic firms are now conducting their operations remotely.
The state of emergency, which was announced yesterday, covers Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Osaka, Hyogo and Fukuoka, and is scheduled to end on May 6.
