Amazon to open fulfillment center in Texas
Amazon.com is planning to open its first fulfillment center in Forney, Texas, the company announced on Thursday. The facility, scheduled to open in 2021, will employ 500 full-time workers, the statement read.
“We are grateful for the strong support we’ve received from local and state leaders as we broaden our footprint around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. We look forward to creating over 500 jobs for the local Forney community, with industry-leading pay and comprehensive benefits starting on day one,” Amazon Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment Alicia Boler Davis noted.
A report published in The Wall Street Journal on Sunday revealed that Amazon plans to turn some of the empty mall spaces owned by Simon Property Group Inc. into fulfillment centers.
