Another 3 prefectures in Japan could lift state of emergency – report
Japan is considering lifting the state of emergency in Osaka, Kyoto and Hyogo prefectures on May 21, the Asahi Shimbun reported on Tuesday.
The government has noted a decrease in the number of coronavirus cases as the main motivation for the potential removing of the restrictive measures, the report said. If the state of emergency gets lifted in the three aforementioned regions, it would still remain in place in five other prefectures, including Tokyo and Hokkaido.
Last week, the authorities ended the state of emergency in 39 of the country’s 47 administrative regions.
