ASEAN envoy presents demands for Myanmar trip
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) newly-appointed special envoy to Myanmar, Erywan Pehin Yusof, stated on Saturday he wants to have “full access” to all parties during his visit to that country.
“The planned visit to Myanmar is in the pipeline, and what we need to do is make sure we’re well-prepared when we go there, unlike the visit I had in June,” Brunei’s Second Foreign Affairs Minister said but did not confirm the date of his visit.
Yusof’s tasks will be to oversee the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid, efforts to end violence in the country, and help start a dialogue between opposing parties.
