Asia inches higher on Fed rate hike talk
Most stocks in Asia-Pacific inched higher on Friday as market participants digested the news that the US Federal Reserve has not abandoned its plans to raise its interest rates at the start of 2022, despite deciding to hold the rates at the latest monetary policy meeting.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was flat at 4:30 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite adding 0.53% at 4:42 am CET. At 4:42 am CET, the Australian S&P/ASX 200 increased by 1.97% and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng down by 1.07%. South Korea’s Kospi added 1.50% at 4:44 am CET, as Japan’s Nikkei 225 added 1.93% or 504 points at the same time. The dollar went 0.01% down against the yen, going for ¥115.3405. at 4:45 am CET
