Asia lower with focus on Omicron, North Korea
Asian stock markets traded with losses on Friday as India’s COVID-19 cases recorded the highest daily tally since May. Meanwhile, South Korea reported that North Korea fired at least one unidentified projectile towards the Sea of Japan.
The Nikkei 225 ended the session dropping 1.28%, while the S&P/ASX 200 closed 1.08% lower. The Kospi Composite declined by 1.35% at 7:12 am CET, and Hang Seng was down by 0.54% at 7:33 am CET.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite fell by 0.78% at 7:32 am CET, and the Shenzhen Composite was the only index with gains, adding 0.20% at 7:34 am CET.
The dollar traded 0.38% lower compared to the yen, going for 113.7085 at 7:35 am CET.
