Asia-Pacific mostly higher in Fed’s remarks aftermath
Major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded mostly higher on Friday as the United States Federal Reserve’s talks about the possibility of raising its interest rates in the near future continued to occupy traders’ attention. Meanwhile, Bank of Japan (BoJ) Governor Haruhiko Kuroda stated that the institution is not planning to launch its own central bank digital currency (CBDC) yet.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 2.09% higher as the dollar stood flat against the yen to sell for ¥115.3470. South Korea’s Kospi advanced by 1.97% at 7:18 am CET. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 traded 2.19% at the close.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite gained 0.19% at 7:04 am CET. At the same time, the Shenzhen Composite rose by 1.09%. On the other hand, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng lost 1.00% at 7:20 am CET.
