Asia trades higher despite discouraging data
Stock in Asia traded mostly higher on Friday even though the data showed Japan’s private sector’s economic downturn persisting in August. The Flash Services Business Activity Index decreased to 45.0 from last month’s 45.4. Investors also reacted to the US Labor Department report on initial weekly jobless claims that came in above 1 million.
In mainland China, the Shenzhen Composite gained 1.14% at 4:29 am CET, while the Shanghai Composite, rose by 0.33% at 4:15 am CET. At 4:30 am CET, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng increased by 0.66%, as South Korea’s Kospi went up by 0.97% a minute later. The Australian S&P/ASX 200 went slightly down by 0.09% at 4:30 am CET. Nikkei traded 0.32 % higher at the same time.
The dollar went down by 0.12% against the yen, buying ¥105.6685 at 4:32 am CET.
