Asia trades lower ahead of BoJ interest rate decision
Asian stock indexes traded lower on Friday as investors awaited the Bank of Japan’s interest rate decision. The country’s Bureau of Statistics stated that consumer prices in Japan increased 0.1% in February on a monthly basis. Meanwhile, officials from China and the United States met for talks as the two countries try to find common ground.
The Nikkei 225 lost 0.55% at 4:42 am CET, while the S&P/ASX 200 was down by 0.40% at the same time. Hang Seng declined by 1.45% at 4:43 am CET. The Kospi Composite dropped 0.94% at 4:23 am CET.
The Shanghai Composite was 1.04% lower at 4:30 am CET, and the Shenzhen Composite slid by 1.82% at 4:36 am CET.
The dollar traded 0.06% higher compared to the yen and sold for 108.9460 at 4:45 am CET.
