Asia trades mostly lower after BoJ holds rates
Equities on major stock markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded mostly lower on Friday after the Bank of Japan (BoJ) decided to keep its interest rates unchanged, revised down 2021 growth expectations and raised the 2022 economic forecast. Meanwhile, United States President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Angela Merkel spoke about relations between the West and China during their joint press conference.
The Nikkei 225 declined 0.45% at 7:24 am CET. The Shanghai Composite decreased by 0.09% at 7:09 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite Index was 0.24% lower at 7:25 am CET. The Hang Seng rose by 0.53% at the same time. The Kospi lost 0.34% at 7:25 am CET. The S&P/ASX 200 in Australia was flat a minute later.
The dollar was up 0.12% compared to the Japanese yen at 7:27 am CET, trading for 109.9765.
