Asia trades mostly lower, Hang Seng drops near 2%

Shares on the major equity markets in the Asia-Pacific region traded mostly with losses on Thursday, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng down almost 2%, marking the third consecutive day of losses and remaining almost 5% below the flatline for the week.

The investors seemingly focused on Japan’s trade balance data, as well as the news regarding the cooperation agreement between the United States and Australia.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite lost 0.69% at 7:00 am CET, with the Shenzhen Composite declining by 1.27% at the same time. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng tumbled 1.55% at 7:15 am CET, as South Korea’s Kospi Composite went down by 0.45%. At the same time, Japan’s Nikkei 225 slid by 0.64%.

The dollar traded 0.12% lower against the yen, going for 109.2440 at 7:16 am CET, as the Australian S&P 200 advanced by 0.72%.
