Asian markets mixed after data
Equities on the Asian markets were mixed on Wednesday after China’s National Bureau of Statistics’ manufacturing PMI data showed the country’s factory activity in September standing above the estimated number to mark overall growth in the sector, with IHS Markit’s report, however, showing manufacturing PMI went under the estimates. In Japan, both the industrial production and the retail sales surprised expectations, rising by 1.7% on a monthly basis and 1.9% on an annual basis respectively.
In mainland China, the Shenzhen Composite went up by 0.86% at 4:48 am CET, with the Shanghai Composite increasing 0.48% a minute later, as Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 1.72%.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 lost 0.12% at 4:30 am CET. At 04:52 am CET, the dollar traded 0.03% lower against the yen, going for ¥105.6175, with the Australian S&P/ASX 200 1.09% down at the same time.
