Asian markets mixed with US political turmoil in focus
Equities on the Asian markets traded mixed on Wednesday with investors remaining focused on the efforts to remove United States President Donald Trump, the leader of the world’s largest economy, from office.
Lawmakers in the lower congressional chamber have passed a bill calling on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment in order to oust the president, despite his refusal to do so.
In mainland China, the Shenzhen Composite went down by 0.1% at 4:30 am CET, as the Shanghai Composite lost 0.12%. At 4:32 am CET, the dollar traded 0.16% lower against the yen, going for ¥103.5720. On the other hand, the Australian S&P/ASX 200 traded flat, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 added 0.75% at 4:34 am CET. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng increased by 0.01% at 4:35 am CET, as South Korea’s Kospi Composite advanced by 0.46%.
