Austria to go into third lockdown on December 26
Austria is set to enter the third nationwide lockdown since the beginning of the pandemic on December 26 until January 24, the country’s government unveiled in a statement on Friday, confirming media reports on imposing tighter containment measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The government will offer volutary testing to the whole Austrian population between January 15 and 17 and those who test negative could see easing of the measures starting January 18, the statement said.
Non-essential shops, hospitality venues and schools will be closed on December 26 as well to reopen on January 18.
