Bailey: UK GDP data in line with expectations
Governor of the Bank of England Andrew Bailey said on Thursday that today’s record GDP data from the United Kingdom was in line with the central bank’s expectations.
Speaking for a Financial Times conference, Bailey stated that although the UK’s has experienced a “recovery,” it has been “very uneven” and a large gap still remains compared to figures from before the coronavirus pandemic. Asked about Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine, the governor described the news as “encouraging for business and the economy.”
Earlier, it was revealed the UK’s GDP grew a record 15.5% in the third quarter of this year.
