Beijing to lower coronavirus emergency response level
The municipal government of Beijing will lower its emergency level of the COVID-19 pandemic from the second highest to the third level, a local official announced on Friday.
The Chinese capital introduced the Level I state of emergency, reserved for the most urgent situations relating to public health, in late January, and lowered it to the second level on April 30.
The global pandemic originated in China’s Hubei province last December before spreading across the globe. The current number of people infected with the virus in China is 66.
