Biden: America wasn’t built by Wall Street
United States President Joe Biden stated in his remarks in honor of labor unions on Wednesday that America wasn’t built by the stock markets on Wall Street, but rather by middle-class workers. He urged Congress to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize Act (PRO Act) to expand labor protections.
“Some people started seeing the stock market and corporate profits and executive pay as the only measure for our economic growth. By the way, the stock market has gone up exponentially since I’ve been president. You haven’t heard me say a word about it,” Biden said.
The president stressed that employment and wage growth are better measures of the economy’s health than stock markets, he also highlighted the importance of his Build Back Better plan that ensures creating more jobs.
