Biden’s Afghanistan call draws bipartisan criticism
United States Senator from South Carolina Lindsey Graham described on Tuesday President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw the country’s troops from Afghanistan as “so irresponsible” and a “disaster in the making.”
Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell noted that “foreign terrorists will not leave the US alone simply because our politicians have grown tired of taking the fight to them. The President needs to explain to the American people how abandoning our partners and retreating in the face of the Taliban will make America safer.”
Senator from New Hampshire Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat and a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, also expressed her disappointment with the decision, saying that “the US has sacrificed too much to bring stability to Afghanistan to leave without verifiable assurances of a secure future.”
