Blinken agrees with ‘genocide’ claims against China
United States President-elect Joe Biden’s Secretary of State nominee Antony Blinken (pictured) said on Tuesday that he agrees with the assessment of the outgoing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that China had committed “genocide” against Muslim minorities in the country.
During his Senate confirmation hearing, Bliken noted that Beijing’s supposed establishment of concentration camps in the Xinjiang region with the aim to “reeducate” Muslims “speaks to an effort to commit genocide.”
Earlier in the day, Pompeo claimed that the “atrocities” and “genocide” in the Xinjiang province were carried out “under the direction and control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP),” comparing the crimes against humanity during World War II to those Beijing allegedly committed against Muslims.
