Blinken: Russia stepped up planning for military action in Ukraine
United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated on Wednesday that Russia has stepped up its planning for a potential military invasion into Ukraine.
Blinken noted that the US is deeply concerned that Russia is making plans for “significant aggressive moves against Ukraine,” adding that they include an effort to destabilize the country from within as well as large-scale military operations. He pointed the similarities between Russia’s actions at the moment and those from 2014 when it annexed Crimea, including disinformation campaigns and a build-up of troops near the border.
Previously, Blinken asserted that any aggression by Russia on Ukraine would have “consequences,” as the international community rallied against the potential attack on the Eastern European country.
