Canada greenlights USMCA – TeleTrader.com
Canadian Senate ratified the US-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade agreement following the previous two readings in the House of Commons, as lawmakers unanimously voted for the deal.
“The new agreement was today ratified by the House of Commons. It has just been ratified by the Senate. And we expect that it will receive royal assent today,” Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland stated on Friday.
The USMCA has been already approved by the Mexican parliament, while on March 11, United States President Donald Trump put a signature on the new USMCA agreement, which will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) from 1994.
