Castex: France to ease virus restrictions in February
French Prime Minister Jean Castex stated on Thursday the government is planning to ease the restrictions imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in February.
“This exceptional wave is not over, but I believe I can tell you that the situation is starting to evolve more favorably,” he told reporters. Wearing masks outdoors will stop being mandatory on February 2. Then on February 16, nightclubs will reopen, concerts with standing audiences will also be able to take place, and food and drink consumption will be allowed in sports and cultural events and in public transport.
The announcement comes after the French Senate approved President Emmanuel Macron’s new set of measures, which include proof of vaccination for everyone aged 18 or more in order to enter public facilities.
