CDC finds first case of Omicron in US – Fauci
United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has registered the first case with the Omicron coronavirus variant, US President Joe Biden’s Chief Medical Advisor Anthony Fauci confirmed on Wednesday.
The infection has been documented in California, according to Fauci. The infected individual returned from South Africa to the US on November 22 and tested positive on November 29.
The person has been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus and is experiencing “mild symptoms.” The individual is self-quarantining and the person’s condition is “improving.” All close contacts have tested negative for the disease thus far, Fauci added.
