CDC panel recommends booster jab for people at risk
The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices issued a recommendation on Friday for all immunocompromised Americans to receive a third shot of Pfizer or Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines.
The CDC is expected to officially adopt the recommendation later in the day
Earlier, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved booster shots of the two vaccines for “solid organ transplant recipients or those who are diagnosed with conditions that are considered to have an equivalent level of immunocompromised.” Meanwhile, top US epidemiologist Dr. Anthony Fauci stated that it is likely everyone will need the third dose of the vaccines.
