Chernobyl staff can’t leave power plant
The mayor of Slavutych Yuriy Fomichev announced on Saturday that staff members, who work at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant are unable to leave due to Russian military troops, reported Ukrainian news channel Hromadske.
“[Workers] eat sparingly, they have a limited amount of medicine and it is very difficult for them. Their relatives and friends here in Slavutych are also worried and do not know what to do,” asserted the mayor, adding that the staff has continued working in two shifts since the capture.
Russian military forces took over Chernobyl on February 24.
