China leads medal table after penultimate Olympic day
China is leading the medal table of the 2020 Summer Olympics following the event’s penultimate day, Saturday, August 7.
The United States has won the most medals overall, 108, 36 of which are gold, 39 silver, and 33 bronze. However, China holds the top spot as the winner of most gold medals, 38. The East Asian country has also collected 31 silver and 18 bronze tokens.
Other nations in the top ten most successful countries in Tokyo are the host Japan, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Great Britain, Australia, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, and France.
