China: Russia can make decision based on its interests

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that Russia is an independent country and has a right to make decisions in its own interests.

In response to Russia’s decision to launch a military operation in Ukraine, Beijing insisted Moscow’s actions did not represent an invasion.

The comments are in sharp contrast to Ukraine’s and the West’s response as Kiev called Russia’s move a “full-scale invasion” and NATO accused Moscow of breaching international law.
