China slams FB over labeling state media
China’s Foreign Ministry criticized Facebook Inc. on Friday for imposing restrictions on state-owned media.
The ministry’s spokesman Geng Shuang insisted that companies should not “selectively create obstacles” for media agencies and stressed that all media outlets that operate legally should receive the same treatment.
On Thursday, Facebook announced it will start labeling state-owned social media, including Chinese Xinhua, and block them from advertising in the United States during the summer.
