Conte narrowly wins Senate confidence vote
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte narrowly won the vote of confidence on Tuesday in the country’s upper house, Senate of the Republic, with 156 votes in favor, 140 against, and 16 abstentions.
Conte thus managed to achieve a simple majority, but not an absolute one, and remain in office.
Earlier this week, Conte won the vote in the country’s lower house, the Chamber of Deputies, with an absolute majority of 321–259.
