COVID-19 infections double in Turkey in one day
The number of people infected with coronavirus almost doubled in Turkey as it surged by 311 to 670 in the past 24 hours, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca unveiled on Friday. The death toll from COVID-19 stood at nine, increasing by five over the same period from Thursday’s figure.
All fatal outcomes were recorded among elderly people, Koca said in a statement on Twitter, while a total of 3,656 people were tested for coronavirus in the 24-hour period nationwide.
On March 11, the country registered its first coronavirus case while the first virus-related death was confirmed on Tuesday.
