COVID cases in Ukraine surge to November highs
Ukraine has registered 15,850 new COVID-19 cases over the past day, the highest number since late November, as well as 262 coronavirus-related deaths.
The spreading curve started to go up again in the second half of February, and has neared record highs last seen on November 28, when more than 16,000 positive cases were registered in a day. Kyiv, Odessa and Kharkiv regions reported more than 1,000 new cases in the latest update.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continued its mass vaccination campaign using AstraZeneca’s jab. The country had signed a contract for a total of 12 million doses of vaccines produced by Western companies, while banning the use of Russia’s Sputnik V.
