Cuomo: NY state to start reopening in mid-May
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said on Sunday that parts of the state will start reopening “with precautions” from May 15 if they have had the number of hospitalizations down for 14 consecutive days.
Cuomo stressed that upstate New York is likely to start opening before downstate as it is less affected by the coronavirus outbreak. He stressed that downstate New York should coordinate its reopening with Connecticut and New Jersey.
Earlier, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said that the city may begin its gradual “restart” in the first two weeks of May, but noted the move will depend on the incoming coronavirus data.
