Daimler to pay $30 million fine for delayed recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated on Thursday that the Daimler AG subsidiary will pay a $30 million fine after it failed to recall vehicles as previously agreed.
According to the regulator, Daimler Trucks North America failed to recall vehicles found faulty in a 2018 probe in a “timely fashion” and to comply with other reporting requirements.
“It’s critical that manufacturers appropriately recognize the urgency of their safety recall responsibilities and provide timely and candid information to the agency about all safety issues,” NHTSA Deputy Administrator James Owens.
