DAX surpasses 16,000 points for first time
The Deutscher Aktienindex (DAX) surpassed on Friday the value of 16,000 points for the first time since its establishment in 1988.
The German stock index, which trades on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, rose by 0.52% to reach 16,020.95 points at 11:17 am CET. It reached its previous closing and intraday record values of 15,937.51 and 15,964.38, respectively, the day before, on August 12.
The index went up as the Eurozone revealed its trade surplus came in at €18.1 billion in June, with significant annual rises observed in both the area’s imports and exports.
