Disney confirms it cut down bonuses for execs
Walt Disney Co. confirmed that it gave smaller bonuses to its executives for last year due to the company being heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Top executives, including Executive Chairman Bob Iger, got decreased, performance-based bonuses. Iger got $21 million that represents a double cutback from the $47.5 million he had received in 2019. Chief Executive Officer Bob Chapek, on the other hand, was given $14.2 million.
Disney fired more than 50,000 people in its theme parks worldwide amid the pandemic, but its streaming platform Disney+ topped 86.8 million subscribers.
