Dow jumps 150 points in premarket after jobs report
Equities on the major stock market indexes in the United States accelerated gains in the premarket on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average soaring over 150 points.
Apart from optimistic news regarding Pfizer’s COVID-19 drug, the optimism among traders was seemingly boosted primarily by the faster-than-expected pickup in nonfarm payrolls in the US.
The Dow Jones surged 0.46%, or 150 points at 8:46 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 pared gains a minute later, rising 0.23%. At the same time, the S&P 500 was up by 0.4%. The euro dropped 0.22% versus the dollar at 8:51 am ET, reaching the lowest level since the end of July 2020 and going for 1.15286.
