Downing Street: UK urges China to reconsider HK law
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s spokesman said on Friday the government is urging China to reconsider the implementation of its new national security legislation for Hong Kong.
Johnson’s spokesman also the prime minister “hopes” Beijing will “listen carefully” as tensions between China and a number of other countries escalated in recent days over the proposed law.
Earlier, China threatened to retaliate against the UK if it offers Hong Kongers a path to British citizenship, as suggested by London on Thursday.
