ECB’s de Guindos expects ‘strong’ growth in Q3
Vice President of the European Central Bank, Luis de Guindos, said on Monday that he expects the Eurozone will achieve a “strong” economic growth in the third quarter of 2021.
Commenting on inflation, De Guindos noted consumer prices would likely continue to increase over the upcoming months and eventually start to decline from next year. Supply chain issues are having a “structural” impact on inflation, he added.
The ECB is going to decide on PEPP alternatives in December if the economic activity in the euro area doesn’t normalize by that time, De Guindos stressed, concluding that the ECB’s monetary policy will remain accommodative with the goal of maintaining price stability.
