EMA reviews possible new AZ vaccine adverse effects
The European Medicines Agency revealed on Friday it is reviewing reports of a rare nerve-degenerating disorder in people who have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine.
According to the statement, the EMA’s safety committee is looking into data on cases of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS). Considering AstraZeneca’s jab has already been related to causing blood clots in rare cases, the latest news raised further concerns on its safety.
In response to the concerns, the British health regulator recommended earlier today that all Britons younger than 40 should receive an alternative COVID-19 vaccine instead of AstraZeneca’s.
