EPA to tighten methane emission regulation – report
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) decided to impose new stricter rules on methane emissions that could impact climate change, according to a report published by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
The EPA is also determined to adopt the same stance in regulating other industrial pollutants, the report said. Several people within the agency are reportedly looking to use the rules to bar additional greenhouse-gas mandates that currently apply to power plants and motor vehicles as well.
The agency plans to begin rulemaking shortly to identify basic principles and criteria, aiming to “apply them in future significant determinations,” the EPA’s paper allegedly said.
