Equinor joins green hydrogen project NortH2
Norwegian energy company Equinor announced on Monday it is joining the NortH2 project, which is considered the biggest green hydrogen project in Europe.
The project’s target is to produce green hydrogen using aeolian energy from offshore wind off the Netherlands’ coast, with an estimated 4 gigawatts by 2030 and more than 10 gigawatts by 2040.
Equinor’s CEO Anders Opedal (pictured) expressed the company’s intention to “build a competitive position in hydrogen, creating future value and industrial possibilities,” as it aims to become a “net-zero energy” company by 2050.
