EU considering military training mission to Ukraine – report
The European Union will discuss topics relating to military and cyber threats during an upcoming summit in Kiev, with the intention of potentially providing a military training mission to Ukraine, anonymous EU officials told the Associated Press on Monday.
Asked by Ukraine to provide “professional military education,” amid ongoing tensions with Russia, the EU already sent a fact-finding mission to Ukraine in September. The official now plans to analyze the results of this mission in order to determine the best future course of action, with the EU’s political and security committee meeting in November to make the decision.
“What we are looking at this moment is to explore the possibilities to further support more broadly what I would describe as Ukraine resilience, and that obviously includes in the area of professional military education,” one of the sources said.
