EU implements new measures against Belarus
The European Union is banning Belarusian carriers from using its airspace or having access to the bloc’s airports in response to the forced Ryanair plc flight landing, the European Council said on Monday.
In addition, Brussels stated it will impose travel bans and freeze the assets of 86 Belarusian individuals and companies, with more economic sanctions reportedly being expected to be implemented soon.
“We have to tighten the thumbscrews after this callous action of state air piracy,” Austria’s Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg (pictured) asserted.
