EU in talks on Afghanistan exit with Turkey, Qatar – report
The European Union is negotiating with Turkey and Qatar to have them help it evacuate its citizens from Afghanistan, Al-Arabiya reported on Thursday.
The news comes amid British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab’s visit to Qatar, where he will talk with his counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani and the country’s emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani about the secure evacuation of British nationals from Afghanistan.
The EU previously asked the United States to maintain Kabul Airport safe for evacuation from the crisis-hit country for as long as necessary. Meanwhile, the US completed the withdrawal of its troops from Afghanistan. Later on, the Taliban stated it is planning to resume flights from and to the airport.
