EU ready to improve relations with Turkey
European Union leaders revealed on Tuesday that Brussels is ready to push the agenda on three key pillars related to the cooperation with Turkey – economic collaboration, migration policy as well as people-to-people mobility.
European Council President Charles Michel stated that, although differences in foreign policy remain between Brussels and Ankara, Turkey has clearly shown interest in reengaging with the EU.
Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the two highest-ranking officials discussed several areas of cooperation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, including strengthening economic ties, joining forces in the battle against climate change and increasing Turkey’s participation in the EU’s programs.
