Europe closes higher on upbeat data
European markets closed with sharp gains on Tuesday following the release of some upbeat economic data.
Although private sector economic activity in the euro area and the United Kingdom shrank in June, the coronavirus downturn eased continued to ease, according to reports from IHS Markit released earlier in the day.
The DAX rallied 2.31% at the end of the session in Frankfurt. Wirecard was the best performer as the company’s shares surged following the arrest of now-former CEO Markus Braun. In Paris, the CAC 40 climbed 1.39% as carmakers Peugeot and Renault led the gains. The FTSE jumped 1.21%; Evraz soared over 7%.
