Europe closes mixed on inflation news
Major stock markets in Europe closed mixed on Wednesday, as investors analyzed the latest inflation news. Reports showed that inflation increased in the Eurozone and the United Kingdom in October, while European Central Bank officials said it is getting harder to predict inflation levels. Meanwhile, coronavirus cases continue to rise on the continent, with countries hitting new records.
The DAX ended the session flat. The FTSE 100 was down by 0.48% at the closing bell, as Spirax-Sarco Engineering fell 4.94%. The CAC 40 finished the day 0.08% higher, with Schneider Electric rising 1.76%.
The euro dropped 0.06% against the dollar to trade for $1.13054 at 5:31 pm CET, while the pound gained 0.38% against the American currency to change hands for $1.34739.
